Cute bunnies were everywhere this year for Easter. I have made these cupcakes for years with my class and this year was no exception. I bake the cupcakes at home then give every child a plain cupcake (my gluten free student received a rice crispy cake it worked great!). They had a spoon full of white frosting, three jelly beans, a bunny shaped "Peep", and some green coconut. To dye the coconut you just put some coconut into a ziplock bag and add a couple of drops of green food coloring, then shake. They turned out adorable and the kids love putting them together themselves, but they love eating them even more!
We also made some bunny glyphs. I know I have really been into glyphs this year. We have made one each month and the kids have loved them. This glyph I did not make a pattern for every piece. The glyph calls for different heads based on their answers, so I traced a lid for the round, hand drew a heart for the heart shaped heads, and drew an oval for the kids who had oval heads. That kept the class from making tiny bunnies. They had different shaped bodies, round or long and skinny. The baskets were in different hands with different amounts of eggs based on answers. A carrot or tulip was in the rabbits hand. Bow on head for girl, under chin for boy.
I made mine while I was having them make their own and demonstrated how to draw the arms, face, ears, etc. They really like to do it all on their own. Didn't they turn out awesome? I really liked the oval headed bunny with the tiny body mixed in with the others. It reminded me of a cartoon character.
I will have to pull out my glyph and put the questions on here to share with everyone. Look for an update soon!
